Volunteers organizing community support

Spring Fellowship orientation opens in Fairfax

Cohort Fellows gathered for a three-day intensive covering literacy lab design, family partnership protocols, and safeguarding standards. Principal Officer Hortence Beya Tshimini welcomed the class with a charge: lead with evidence and heart.

Training modules included practice coaching circles, scenario-based family conversations, and a site walk-through of partner academy spaces. Placement matching begins the following week.

Home & Heart workshops return for caregivers

Evening sessions help families decode school communications, set student goals, and map local resources for housing and food stability. Workshops are free; registration is capped to keep groups intimate.

“Connecting Hearts, Building Homes” framed the opening night: relationships first, then the practical tools that keep learning possible when life is heavy.

Donor-powered tutoring expands weekend seats

Tax-deductible gifts unlocked Saturday literacy blocks for middle-school scholars. Small-group ratios stayed under 1:6, with Fellows tracking fluency growth across six weeks.

International Charity House thanks every donor who made the expansion possible. Gifts remain private under our strict donor privacy policy.
